If you’re a PC gamer, war shooters are numerous and vary wildly in realism and target audience. As a console player, most war shooters have to stand up to the big Battlefield launch of that year, and it often ends in varying degrees of success. One war shooter named for a famous World War I battle aims to offer a realistic experience that still lets players gear up alongside friends online. Verdun, a name PC gamers will recognize and PlayStation owners may have heard of, has yet to launch on Xbox One but that is set to change.
For background, Verdun‘s development team Blackmill Games have already released on PC and PlayStation 4 and have only been held up on Xbox due to Microsoft’s certification process. The team, according to a public post on the game’s official Facebook page, are finally nearing release and offer a roadmap of the next week or so. According to the post, the team “have been very close to the release several times, therefore our estimate of 1-2 months was a realistic one. However we have had several (last minute) setbacks to overcome.” The post continues, discussing how from their submission to Microsoft on January 27, “in the upcoming 45 days Microsoft will be testing game on almost everything” and will decide certification from there.
In the post, Blackmill Games make fans eagerly awaiting an Xbox release two promises, as well as offering good news for players on other platforms as well. The team writes that they “will take the first open slot Microsoft offers us” to release the game, and that Blackmill “will make sure to discount the game well for you.” Regarding dates however, the team will have nothing until after Microsoft has decided whether or not to grant certification for their console. Players on PlayStation 4 also have big things on the horizon to look forward to: stability and performance improvements as well as the addition of Scottish troops. When we learn more on Verdun‘s fate on Xbox One, we’ll keep you updated so stay tuned to Rectify Gaming.
