As for the recent workings from developer Monolithsoft, the team previously delivered Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition back in May of last year. While encapturing much of the pleasantries of the original 2010 title which released on the Nintendo Wii being delivered to the Nintendo Switch, the new experience also delivers an epilogue which expands on the events following the game’s conclusion.

However, details regarding what the developer has progressed onto next is left for uncertainty. While there is assumptions that Monolithsoft has moved on to work on another Xenoblade title or an entirely different IP altogether cannot be verified at the time of reporting. But a new claim suggests that the project underway is once again Xenoblade related.

From Fanbyte, the outlet in a report on Monday can verify that a new game is on the way, specifically Xenoblade Chronicles 3. While there was a tip from Melia voice actress Jenna Coleman in one interview back in June, the video resurfaced only recently which left to sources telling Fanbyte it does exist with plans to announce later in 2021.

You can watch the snippet from the chat in the video below:

“Do you know it was through my- I think pre-Doctor Who and everything, so it was through my voiceover agent and I did it like, god, when was the first game? Like ten years ago?” Coleman continues, “Anyways […] when they did they second one , they asked me to come back. And I think they’re going to do another.

“Common knowledge? Don’t know. Yeah, I think they’re going to do another. Not sure if I’m allowed to say that.” From News Editor Imran Khan, he shares that sources familiar with the project are aiming to announce the game later on this year. While originally planned to be revealed earlier in 2021, optimizations for the Nintendo Switch atop of pandemic stress resulted with a withheld announcement for the time being.

Referencing inner-industry from Imran Khan has typically resulted with accuracy most recently, Previously, Khan reported that Team Ninja would be teaming up with Square Enix to develop a new Final Fantasy game. And later at E3, the two firms unveiled Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. So there is a likeliness that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is to revealed later on if Khan is confident in the source.

In a similar line of events for another game that could possibly be on the way is Final Fantasy X-3. Previously, Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that there is an outline for the game, however, Square Enix is currently prioritizing the release for the completion of Final Fantasy VII Remake.
