1047 Games announced that Splitgate 2 will be going back into Beta after listening to feedback they received and felt it was released too early.
The developer announced that they will be focusing on significant parts of the game until early next year to recapture the essence of what made Splitgate special. They plan to completely rebuild the progression system, reemphasize classic game modes, simplify monetization, and implement additional improvements.
“We’re returning not just to our roots in what we build, but in how we build it – with you. That means more playtests, more surveys, more listening, and truly being community first. Our goal is to combine the DNA of the first game with the best improvements from the second,” the co-founders of Splitgate stated.
Splitgate 2 will remain playable, and they’ll still be shipping Chapter 3 as well as implementing high-priority changes. They’ll be shutting down the original Splitgate servers, and the studio announced more layoffs are happening.
The game was released on June 6, 2025, during the Summer Game Fest, and at that time, the company felt very confident in its new Battle Royale mode and its features.
