The initial Xbox 20/20 showcase surely grew some excitement with the lineup of third-party properties that would present the new standard for next-generation consoles as the Xbox Series X is set to arrive later this November. During the inaugural presentation, developer Codemasters debuted its next project, Dirt 5.
At the time of the announcement, the firm verified the game will launch later this year on both iterations of Xbox alongside PC. That was later followed up with a PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 version scheduled to drop the same day. Howbeit, there was still no concrete launch date for Dirt 5. The following month in June, Codemasters unveiled the arrival of the new racing title to be October 9th in a new trailer for the game.
But despite what seemed to be a comfortable timeframe for the game to ship, the developer might’ve overanticipated the project’s development. In a new post on Twitter, Codemasters tells that the game will now be arriving the following week, October 16.
While Codemasters is quick to disclose the new information of a new release date for Dirt 5, the developer does leave out the reasoning as for why the game was ushered to a later date. Presumably, the game faced minor setbacks which subjected the development team to only to the delay the game by a week rather than a more drastic launch rescheduling like we are typically accustomed to.
Another title that shared the stage during May’s Xbox 20/20 showcase facing a delay is Hardsuit Labs’ Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. While Dirt 5 is only a week, the coming project from the Seattle studio is left unknown in regards to its new 2021 release date. You can read the full report by heading here.
