When it comes from either Sony or Microsoft, both firms are doubling down on each of its consoles outside of first-party releases alongside the partnered third-party titles advertised for the coming systems. In particular, backwards compatibility is a big emphasis. Leading to the release for next month, the two continue to campaign how playing games from prior hardware is a standard for the next-generation.
Among that plethora of supported games, one that has yet to be included is Harmonix’s Rock Band 4. Alike prior entries and competing installments, those titles never received support for this console cycle. But for Xbox Series X| S and PlayStation 5, things will be different. The developer announces current fans can continue playing on next-generation hardware.
In addition to the exciting announcement, a handful of accessories including the original set of instruments will be supported. Here is the list provided from the recent blog post:

Furthermore, Harmonix also discloses that all downloadable content for Rock Band 4 will be accessible for users moving over to the next Xbox or PlayStation. Surprisingly, it does not stop there. Cross-gen play will also be available for all users based on the respected console family you reside on. Your save data can also be retrieved on the newer systems as well.
Similarly, Microsoft has illustrated to follow the same path as Harmonix.
