Illfonic’s Latest Licensed Project Cross The Streams With Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Aimed For Q422 Release

From the team over at Illfonic, the game studio in recent years is associated for its impactful efforts in establishing online experiences for licensed film franchises for gaming. At the moment the firm is most recognized for its work on 1980s film series such as Friday the 13th and Predator. The first unfortunately met a short outcoming with the licensing confusion between Friday the 13th and Jason Vorhees.

It was in late 2020 that publisher Gun Media revealed that dedicated servers for Friday the 13th will be severed. As for the other project, Illfonic also went on to deliver Predator: Hunting Grounds. The project alike its predecessor traded lakeside summer camps for tropical outposts as the extraterrestrial bounty hunter stalks from the trees above. Noted, the game unlike its older sibling was only on PlayStation & PC then.

In a new announcement this week, Illfonic returns with a new project exploring the science behind the protonpack with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“As a Ghostbuster, join with other Ghostbusters to chase and trap ghosts in museums, prisons, hotels, and more, and capture the ghosts before they can fully haunt the areas,” the trailer’s description reveals. “Or, as the Ghost, hide, sneak, surprise, scare, and of course, slime Ghostbusters and civilians until the everything has gone completely spooky. Use trickery, deception, and Ectoplasm to gain the upper hand and drive the Ghostbusters out.”

Additionally, another film series is receiving the same treatment elsewhere from a previous announcement this past December. In that, Texas Chainsaw Massacre is also being adapted into a video game with the same formula as players control the psychopath alongside the survivors.
