While Xbox Game Pass and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack bring its own perks to the video game service table, Sony Interactive Entertainment has yet to officially serve its own dish. While the firm did reveal that it is to include its own take on the business model with Essential, Extra, and Premium subscription options, the service is not due until June later this summer.

Additionally, there was some additional context provided by President & CEO Jim Ryan in a follow-up interview. When speaking to gamesindustry.biz, he explained that the PlayStation Studios titles releasing day one for the service would break the “virtuous cycle” that made the platform unique in the first place.

In a separate update from the PlayStation firm recently, Sony Interactive Entertainment has released the full schedule of dates for the new PlayStation Plus/PlayStation Now subscription tiers when they arrive later in the coming weeks. You can read the complete list below:

Asia markets (excluding Japan) – targeting May 23, 2022
Japan – targeting June 1, 2022
Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
Europe – targeting June 22, 2022

“Additionally, we’re also expanding our cloud streaming access to the following locations for a total of 30 markets with cloud streaming access**. The following markets will also offer the Premium tier from PlayStation Plus at launch: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia,” Ryan adds in the updated blog post.

“We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games and greater value for our members for quite some time now – and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout. We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch.”

Most notable about the Premium tier is the access to PlayStation 3 titles despite only being accessed through streaming. However, that could change as Garrett Fredley revealed his new employment at the PlayStation firm for a new game preservation division. You can read the full report by heading here.
