In the string of projects on the way for Final Fantasy, players can expect to stay busy. It was not too long before that Square Enix officially announced Final Fantasy VII Remake: Rebirth, the official sequel to 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake. Not only that, but the firm also revealed Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion at the same time as well.
Other Final Fantasy VII projects include the previously released Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier for mobile device. What makes this new title so unique is its a battle royale third-person shooter which shares many of the aspects of the original RPG for the new title. The game launched back in November, but that will be a short-lived lifespan.
According to a new tweet from Square Enix, the multiplayer servers for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier will only be up until January next year. You can view the post below:
“It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing the end of service for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. We will be ending service at 07:00 UTC [3 AM EST, 12 AM PST] on January 11, 2023,” Square Enix writes in the letterhead for the announcement.
“Despite all our efforts to bring you regular updates with fresh and exciting content, we haven’t been able to deliver the experience that we were hoping to, and that you all deserve, so we have made the extremely tough decision to end service for Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier. We would like to thank you all for supporting us over the past year.”
As for other Square Enix live-service titles facing its demise, PlatinumGames’ Babylon’s Fall is planning the same for late February next year. The team in September announced the decision and will slowly roll out the remaining content well into the winter landing next early year. You can read the full report by heading here.
