The Nintendo Indie World Showcase concluded on Tuesday, November 14, and shared news on games coming to the platform in the near future. One of the games rumored a day prior was Outer Wilds and that became true during the presentation. The game was first announced to come to the Switch in 2021, but it had been delayed ever since.

Fans will be able to play Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition for the Nintendo Switch on December 7, 2023. Initially, the release will be digital-only, but a physical version will be released in 2024.

Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition from Mobius Digital and Annapurna Interactive: In this open-world adventure, scour multiple planets in search of clues, strange signals and ancient alien texts to decipher. But the whole solar system is trapped in a time loop, and each planet changes dramatically during each loop. Delve into an underground city before it’s swallowed by sand, dodge sky-high cyclones and more. Find the keys to unlock the mysteries of this solar system in the most hidden and dangerous of places, then unravel the deepest secret of them all in the included Echoes of the Eye expansion.
