The Monster Hunter IP over the course of the past few years remains to be in good health. Upon the release of Monster Hunter Rise, in our review we wrote: “The hunt, the drive to defeat these beasts and conquer them, is what makes this game so great. The first time you land a trap, mount and capture or kill a monster, is a satisfaction that can’t be explained.” And this trend continued with Monster Hunter Now when it released for mobile in September.

Additionally, the game went on to face more than two million registrations ahead of its release at the time. Even more, the next installment in the series is underway. At December’s The Game Awards, Capcom revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to launch later in 2025. Most excitingly, it appears to be a continuation of the formula many loved from Monster Hunter World back in 2018.

At the Nintendo Partner Direct, Capcom revealed Monster Hunter Stories is planned to release later this summer. You can watch the trailer in the video below:

“Become a Monster Rider and befriend countless monsters from the Monster Hunter series in this enhanced version of the original RPG epic! Originally released in 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS system, Monster Hunter Stories for Nintendo Switch features HD visuals, new voice overs, a museum mode filled with art and music from the game and additional content that was previously only available in Japan,” the press release reads.

In preparation, we urge you read our review for Monster Hunter Stories 2. “Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is a bigger, better version of the previous game that should win over people who couldn’t get past playing it on mobile devices.” You can read the full piece by heading here.
