Although the current market leader with the PlayStation 5, Sony Interactive Entertainment has faced a major power restructuring in 2024. In March, it was revealed that current President & CEO Jim Ryan would step down from his role. Ryan was a pillar individual in the upbringing for the platform more than 20 years ago. However, the arrangement to oversee PlayStation ended with two co-leaders.
In that, it was revealed that Sony Interactive Entertainment would be helmed by two individuals: Hermen Hulst & Hideaki Nishino. Hulst prior was the president for PlayStation Studios and studio head for Guerrilla Games before that. Similarly, Nishino also stood as the senior vice president of platform group experience prior to his promotion. The two succeed Hiroki Totoki that was a stand-in CEO after Ryan’s departure.
This week, it was announced that Hideaki Nishino will be granted the role for Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO. Hulst now reports to Nishino as Sony Interactive Entertainment studio business group CEO.
I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone. We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation. I want to thank Hermen for his expertise and leadership as he continues his role as CEO, Studio Business group. I am deeply grateful for the PlayStation community and their continued support and I am very excited for what the future holds.

After 30 years of delivering exceptional entertainment worldwide, this marks an exciting new chapter for SIE, highlighting its commitment to fostering creativity and building meaningful connections for millions of players.”
Sony Interactive President Hiroki Totoki continues: “I am delighted to welcome Lin Tao as my successor as CFO of Sony Group Corporation. Lin has been instrumental to our success at SIE, leading the finance and corporate strategy and development functions, and I look forward to working closely with her at Sony Group Corporation.”
