The Darksiders franchise spanning more than a decade still stands to be an IP worth returning to with each installment. In our review for Darksiders III, Rectify Gaming scored it a 9/10. “THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games fires a shot right through the heart of an industry filled with bloated open world, micro-transaction heavy games with a return to tightly designed action-adventure games that recent AAA titles have sorely missed. Darksiders III is a return to form; don’t miss it.”

Additionally, the spin-off metrodivania Darksiders Genesis also received praise from us with an 9.2/10 score upon release. “I’ve been loving my time with Darksiders Genesis. It has a ton of depth, the campaign is lengthy and has great character development. The superb blend of action, platforming and exploration that made the series such a standout is intact.”

Now this week during THQ Nordic Showcase 2025, Gunfire Games returns with an announcement for Darksiders 4 bringing the franchise back into the limelight. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“The legendary saga of the Four Horsemen continues in Darksiders 4, an all-new action-adventure set in an apocalyptic version of earth and continues where the original Darksiders game left off,” the synopsis shares. “Darksiders 4 is a 3rd person action adventure game featuring combat, traversal and puzzle solving in a lore rich post apocalyptic world.”

The website overview continues: “Take up one of the legendary Horsemen—each with their own unique weapons and combat styles. […] Experience fast-paced, visceral action blending melee, fluid traversal, and supernatural abilities. […] Journey through apocalyptic landscapes – each teeming with secrets, enemies, and mythic bosses.”

What has you most excited for the return of Darksiders?

Darksiders 4 is listed for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
