Remedy Entertainment shared a few updates on its game projects in the latest Financial Report from the company. They shared a positive update on the Max Payne Remake project in collaboration with Rockstar Games. Remedy also talked about the performance of its newest FPS, FBC: Firebreak.
The developer announced that its first multiplayer game, FBC: Firebreak, had succeeded technically reaching over 1 million players in the first 10 days. However, the majority of players were on Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 thanks to subscription services.
FBC: Firebreak underperformed on Steam, which was intended to be the main sales channel for the game on PC. Remedy indicated that the game’s initial onboarding experience and mission structure led to a significant number of early player drop-offs and a surge of negative reviews.
Overall, Remedy Entertainment was unsatisfied with the launch phase sales of FBC: Firebreak, even though it had much of its success through PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
“Despite the rocky launch, we believe we have a solid game to build on. Players who spent over an hour with the game reviewed the game mostly positive – showing us that the core experience of the game is entertaining.”
A major update is planned to hit FBC: Firebreak in late September, which will be a key step for the game.
In our review of the new FPS from Remedy Entertainment, we scored it a 6/10.
