The current state of the global economy is really showing how relentless it is in the climbing prices on consumer electronics. Although many were already questioning the pricing of next-generation consoles being $500 in 2020, that is not even available anymore for the same hardware. Earlier in August, Sony announced PlayStation 5 will be going up in price for the US market.
Additionally, Nintendo Switch is also in that same category. Not the Nintendo Switch 2; the original Nintendo Switch now costs $340. Of course, this would actually affect the big three overall as it wasn’t an isolated incident. Microsoft pushed increased pricing for its Xbox Series consoles as well which is only making consoles a hard sell for consumers.
On Friday, Windows Central reported that Xbox Series X|S hardware will again be going up in price. The current $379.99/$599.99/$729.99 price points will soon be altered as soon as next month. “Beginning on October 3, we will update the recommended retailer pricing for Series S and Series X consoles in the United States due to changes in the macroeconomic environment,” Microsoft writes in a statement.
“We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration. Looking ahead, we continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games across any screen and providing value for Xbox players.” Xbox Series S is to be priced at $399.99; Xbox Series X to cost $649.99; Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition will be $799.99.
Recently, retailers like Best Buy have listed the pricing for the Xbox x ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handhelds. The storefront has listed the ROG Xbox Ally is $549.99 & ROG Xbox Ally X is $899.99. You can read the full report by heading here.
