Get inside Ebisugaoka Middle School
Take the stairs to move into the Ebisugaoka Middle School. The gates to the mountain are showcased in the cutscene. Shu informs you that the key is somewhere inside the school. Rinko stays behind the Shu, urging you to locate the key while exploring Ebisugaoka Middle School.
Explore Ebisugaoka Middle School
The objective will be changed to exploring the Ebisugaoka Middle School, but your goal is to find the required key. Pass through the sliding doors ahead of you and avoid the stairs over there. Move to the path on the left and turn left again. Move through the stone stairs to find the Shrine. Pray at it and save your progress. Pick up the Origami of Rumors near the shrine. Continue moving the pat till you locate Dried Carcass. Collect it and interact with the shrine to gain some faith.
Go to the left after moving back inside the school. You need to keep following the light and get inside the room on the right side. Pick up the steel pipe from this room. You can use this one instead of the one you have. Move to the east side of the pipe to find the Journal and box. Open it and acquire the key. Pick up the note that indicates that the faculty is patrolling.
Unlock Second Floor
Make all the way back to the hallway and move to the path on the right. Get inside the locker room after passing through the sliding door. Collect the bandage from the box over there. Pick up the First Aid Kit from the locker on the right. Find the passcode to unlock Aoi Takeshi’s lock on the left. Move to the opposite side after leaving the room. The key to unlock the second floor is located in the school’s garden while playing in Hard Difficulty. Exit this area from the window and avoid the enemies ahead of you. Move through the stone stairs on the left after getting the key for the second floor while playing in Hard Difficulty. Move upward and turn to the left to obtain Sledgehammer from the bench over there. You can move to the other side from where you get the hairpin while playing the game in Story Difficulty. Continue moving till you find the stone stairs. Pick up the Sledgehammer from there. This is a deadly weapon that deals massive damage to enemies in combat.
Explore Second Floor
Make your way back to the stairs to go upward after you obtain the key to unlock the second floor of Ebisugaoka Middle School. Avoid the kashimashi and keep progressing through the stairs till you find the door. Pass through the door and continue moving ahead.
Take the first left and collect the Antique Comb from the top left side. Return to the hallway and keep running straight. Get inside the classroom of Hinako after moving ahead. The doors will be locked once you step inside. The room contains Origami of Rumors and a secret box.
Solve Secret Box Puzzle
Interact with the secret box to solve the puzzle. This puzzle resolution is on the Story Mode, Hard Mode, and Lost in the Fog difficulty. Get Rinko’s letters to get clues about the symbols that are available per round. Unlock the box by using the various keywords like cake, tart, and page. Fruits and book symbols on the sides of the box represent these keywords.

Acquire Old Annex Main Gate Key
Travel ahead and use the Second Floor Classroom Generic Key to get access to the room. Collect the Old Annex Main Gate Key and a Note to Teacher from the podium after moving inside the room. Get out of the room and avoid Scarecrow. Use the key to unlock the room on the left side. Collect the Origami of Grievances and get the combination for the locker. Defeat the enemy after moving out of the room. Move to the left and take the stairs to go down this time.
Return to First Floor
Go to the locker room once you move back to the first floor of Ebisugaoka Middle School in Silent Hill f. Go through the stairs from the right side of the locker room. Use the Old Annex Main Gate Key to unlock the door. Move to the right after entering the door. Get inside the classroom over there and pick up the note from one of the tables in the middle. Continue moving to the right after getting out of the classroom.
Move in the opposite direction and locate the note near the plant and a can. Get inside the room once you reach the dead end of this path. Make your way inside the room. Pick up the locker room key and Asakara’s Textbook from the bench in the middle of this classroom.
Locate Locker Room
Return to the area from where you came in after leaving this classroom. Defeat the Ayakakashi and move back. Take the stairs to move downward and get inside the locker room on the left side. You need to solve the Locker Code puzzle in this room using the hints.
Unlock Asakura Ayumi’s locker to progress in your main story. The code for unlocking this locker is the following.

The notes are different you find in Hard Difficulty. However, the cipher and the letters are somehow similar. All the locker passcodes are the same, except for Asakura.

Completing the Locker Code puzzle allows you to gain the Key to the Back Mountains. The other items you obtain while completing the puzzle are Omamori (Wolf), Origami of Grievances, and School Bag.
Gain Key to the Black Mountains
Move back to the office after completing the puzzle. Defeat a bunch of Ayakakashi in the hallway, but you can just avoid engaging with them. Eliminating them can be challenging, as there are many of them. Go through the stairs in front of you to move upward.
Move down after reaching another pair of stairs, and the enemies will not be chasing you anymore. Acquire the key to the Black Mountains by unlocking the cabinet after getting inside the office. Return to the Shu and Rinko, and the cutscene will commence.
