Just this past week, The Game Awards took place and there were steep expectations for what would be revealed at the annual show. One prediction many assumed with the timing was for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced which surfaced via a PEGI listing. And, although insiders indicated it wouldn’t, many were hoping the next big title reveal from Valve would be present at The Game Awards.
Instead, there were still some fulfilling reveals that populated the show. Such as Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic – a true successor to the original Knights of the Old Republic and would be helmed by Casey Hudson who was the original game director. And, former RGG Studio boss & Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi revealed his new project Gang of Dragon as well.
Following the metrics gathered from the presentation on December 11th, host Geoff Keighley revealed that The Game Awards once again exceeded the year’s prior viewership.
Not only did The Game Awards itself face a bump in engagement, so did sales for the Game of the Year recipient too. It was reported by Alinea Analytics that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was met with a surge in game purchases following being awarded. On PC, sales were up by 76% via Steam whilst PlayStation sales were up 21% as well as Xbox being up 3% in the same regard.
In a surprise reveal from developer Sandfall Interactive, the team shipped a free update for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The DLC included new playable content as well as a full fledged photo mode. You can read the full report by heading here.
