PlayStation 5 shipments reach 92.2 million as of December 31, 2025

Sony released its latest financial results for the three months ending on December 31, 2025. It was revealed that the PlayStation 5 shipped 92.2 million units worldwide. In the Q3 2026 results, it was revealed that hardware in total sold was 8 million, full game software sold reached 97.2 million units sold.

The 8 million PlayStation 5’s sold is a decrease of 1.5 million from one year ago.

Other stats revealed by Sony is there are 132 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network as of September 30, 2025, which is up three million from the same period in the previous fiscal year.

First-party games sold in the last three months of 2025 reached 13.2 million.

In related news, Nintendo released its financial results as well and revealed that the Switch has reached 155 million units sold, which trails the PS2 by 5 million. The Switch 2 has also sold 17 million units. 

This year the biggest first-party game planned to release on PlayStation 5 is Marvel’s Wolverine in the Fall.
