Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Emberdale walkthrough

Discover everything you need to know about the Emberdale walkthrough in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, including how to progress in it.

Emberdale in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is a region that you unlock after progressing in Ballymolloy. The town is celebrating the Flaming Festival in honor of a deity they believe grants Emberdale its heat and fire. To unlock Emberdale, you need to collect Red Fragments.

Once you have gathered enough Red Tablet Fragments, place them on the pedestal in the Shrine of Mysteries. This creates a path to Emberdale and makes the region accessible on the world map. Explore all levels of Burnmont and defeat the boss near the lava statue.

Emberdale Overview

Gaffer

Enter the town of Emberdale once the Emberdale region is unlocked, and you reach it on the world map. You can reach it by going south from the signpost near the region entrance. Make your way to the northwestern house and speak with Gaffer. After that scene, talk to Pamela, the fortune teller near the well. Return to speak with Palmela later in the village shop.

Enter the Inn and sleep to advance the story and prepare for the Flaming Festival. After the cutscene, talk to Gaffer again, then Palmela, and Gaffer once more. This triggers travel to Burnmont. Progress through the Burnmont dungeon by descending and fighting the enemies. Reach and defeat the boss at the volcano’s depths. Defeating this boss is required to advance the Emberdale arc.

Burnmount dungeon

After the boss, drop through the hole to exit and return to the top. Speak with Palmela back at the summit to complete the event. After Emberdale’s events, return via the overworld portal to the Shrine of Mysteries. You’ll revisit Emberdale in the present to collect the Green Fragment in the town shop. Continue exploring present Emberdale and return to Burnmont.

Unlock Emberdale Using Red Fragments

Gaffer cutscene

You need to obtain the Red Tablet Fragment and assemble it with other parts to unlock the Emberdale. Defeat all the monsters before getting out of the Ballymolloy. After eliminating them, move to the area where the tower was. You need to find the Seed of Magic from here, which is a crucial item to unlock a new region.

Enter the Ballymolloy and find the church. Destroy all the pots after getting inside to obtain the Single Phial. Interact with the statue to save your game and collect the Mini Medal from one of these pots. Make your way to the entrance of the town and enter the house near the Inn to obtain Chimaera Wing.

You can collect Medicinal Herb by destroying the pots from the house in the north. Make sure to purchase the upgrades from the shops on the left. Obtain the Hardwood Headwear from the dressers after passing through the bridge and getting inside the house. Get the Green Fragment from the NPC inside the tower to the left.

Red Tablet Pedestal

Make your way back to the Rainbow Mines and destroy the barrel to obtain Medicinal Herb. Speak with the guard near the entrance to get inside. Destroy the barrels on level 2 to obtain Antidotal Herb. Go to the south and take the stairs to reach level 3. Approach the chest and open it to unlock 100 coins. Obtain the Red Fragment near the chest, which is a crucial item to unlock Emberdale.

Now that we have the Red Fragment, it’s best to assemble it. Fast travel back to the Estard Castle and speak with the NPC near the entrance. Once you have all the required Red Fragments, you can place them into the red pedestal at the Shrine. The Red Fragments can be found inside The Tower (Past), in the Rainbow Mines (Present), and in Estard Castle (Present).

Place all the Red Fragments on the red pedestal at the Shrine of Mysteries. A cutscene shows a volcano vision, and then you’re transported into the Emberdale region for the first time.

Explore Emberdale

Emberdale village

Once transported, follow the overworld to the Emberdale signpost and continue south to enter the village of Emberdale. This signpost is available on the east side of the region. Before entering the town, make sure to collect the Seed of Life from the south side of Emberdale. Go to the north of the town and enter the house to talk to the NPC. This man is standing on the upper floor of this house.

Approach the well and speak with the woman wearing a strange hat after leaving the house. Move to the west side of the well and speak with Pamela inside the store. The next place you need to go is the south side of this region, and get inside the Inn. Make sure to interact with the statue over there and get ready for the event/festival.

talking to Gaffer

Make your way to the middle of the town and talk to Gaffer. Return to the store and again speak with Pamela. Move to the north side of the store to interact with the Gaffer. Keep destroying the pots and barrels you find while progressing here to collect useful items.

Descend to Burnmont

Burnmount

Go all the way to the mountain and speak with the NPC near the entrance. Eventually, you enter the Burnmont after continuing to move forward. Get to the entrance, speak with the Gaffer, and travel to the south to descend into the mountain.

Before getting deeper, interact with the statue to save the game. Move to the northwest area and take the stairs to descend from level 5 to level 4 in Burnmont. Find the stairs on the south and move down to encounter three deadly monsters.

Defeat these enemies using the best abilities and open the chest to obtain the Divine Dagger. Go back to the Burnmont level 4 and take the stairs from the north to interact with the blue spot to acquire Medicinal Herb.

This is located on the right of the Burnmont Level 3. Take the stairs to head down, and just before reaching level 2, collect the Scale Armour before opening the chest. Now, take the stairs to reach level 2 and follow the path to reach the stairs on the east side.

Find the Boss

Burnmount boss

Make your way outside of the mountain by passing through the south to obtain a Yggrasil Leaf. Get inside and take the stairs to reach level 4. Keep descending inside the mountain to reach level 5. Go to the right of this area and collect the Phial.

Jump down to the lower area by interacting with the crater. To reach the Burnmont level 3, you need to continue interacting with the crater at the center. Collect the Mini Medal by opening the chest from the southwest side of this area. Go all the way to level 1 by again interacting with the crater.

Interact with the statue over here to save the game. Move forward and approach the lava statue in the middle to interact with it. The boss spawns in the arena, which can be very challenging to eliminate. Apply the buffs to your party members to make their attacks more effective.

Leave Burnmont

burnmount summit

Once defeated, interact with the angel statue again to heal your character and save the game. Go to the north side to interact with the hole, allowing you to jump down to the deeper area. Approach the chest here and open it to obtain a Scale Shield.

Move to the top of the mountain by taking the stairs in this area. Speaking with Pamela allows you to trigger a cutscene. You find yourself back at Inn of Emberdale. Leave this zone and approach the portal to teleport back to the Shrine of Mysteries.

Unlock L’Arca

L'arc region unlock

To unlock major regions like L’Arca, you first need to progress the main story by using Tablet Fragments at the Shrine of Mysteries. This allows you to unlock portals to past eras and new zones in Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. Green Tablet Fragments are the key to unlocking the Green Continent, which includes L’Arca. These fragments are found in Ballymolloy and Emberdale.

Place the Green Tablet Fragments in their respective Shrine pedestal. This unlocks the Green continent, allowing you to enter this new biome. Pick up the Green Tablet Fragment opposite Pamela from the store in Emberdale. Collect the Gray Fragment from the underground level of the mountain in Burnmont. Once acquired, assemble the Green Fragment to form a Green Tablet, allowing you to teleport to the third island.

Hi, I’m Ali. I started gaming with Max Payne, and it set the tone for my interest in darker, more immersive experiences. I mostly play soulslikes, RPGs, and FPS titles that focus on tight mechanics and pacing.

I have a strong appreciation for game soundtracks and how they shape the overall experience. I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
