While games in the genre are abundant, the launch of Stellar Blade still remained a refreshing addition when it shipped back in 2024. In our review, Rectify Gaming scored it a 8.5/10. “At its core, Stellar Blade blends fast-paced combat with immersive exploration. Combat mechanics emphasize precision and timing, with players mastering Eve’s abilities to parry and evade enemy attacks.”

And things are only continuing to ramp up for developer Shift Up since the game rolled out then. By summer 2025, Stellar Blade launched for PC. Additionally, the developer also greenlit a sequel for its AAA IP as well. Most recently, while not directly involving the series, the firm did acquire Shinji Mikami’s Unbound game studio earlier this spring.

Now from its recent earnings report, Shift Up has new details to share on the Stellar Blade franchise. It disclosed that there will be a time & place to properly reveal the new installment later on in 2026. Even more, plans for the firm game are still underway under the guise of “platform expansion”, it told in the Q&A.

“Stellar Blade has maintained steady sales since launch, solidifying its position as an evergreen IP in the PC/console market. This quarter, seasonal promotions and discount events continued to drive new player acquisition, with stable long-term sales trends confirmed across all platforms.  Leading up to the release of the next Stellar Blade title, we will continue efforts to broaden the franchise’s brand awareness through collaborations with global IPs and other initiatives.

“Looking ahead, we plan to sustain sales momentum through seasonal and holiday promotions as well as strategic discounting, while also actively exploring further platform expansion. We remain committed to maximizing the long-term value of the IP to repay the support of our global player community.” It continues: “Development of the next Stellar Blade title is progressing smoothly, on track to meet our targeted quality standards.

“Notably, starting with this next title, Shift Up will transition to a first-party service model. This will allow us to lead marketing strategies that fully reflect the distinctive identity of the Stellar Blade IP, and we expect to communicate the unique appeal of its universe to players more directly and effectively. Building on the strong fandom and evergreen IP status established by the first Stellar Blade, we are formulating an optimal go-to-market strategy designed to maximize sales and reach a broad global audience from day one.”

Shift Up also emphasizes on self-publishing for the future of Stellar Blade. “With three key tailwinds — high-quality self-publishing capabilities, a sales maximization strategy, and a proven IP fanbase — we are confident the next title will deliver meaningfully improved results compared to its predecessor.” This is what opens the IP to more platforms potentially alike Death Stranding did when it shipped for Xbox back in 2024.
