Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis Servers To Shut Down October 2026

The current trend Square Enix is following for its flagship JRPGs, it was revealed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be the bookend for the remake trilogy of its 1997 hallmark release. Not only that, but Kingdom Hearts is also on the menu. It was revealed in June a new gameplay trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4 alongside Nintendo Switch 2 also being supported.

With the two RPGs here, there is still more on the way as stated previously. In 2021, game director Tetsuya Nomura indicated that there are really good chances the publisher will return to work on Final Fantasy X-3 following the massive workload on the remake trilogy. Elsewhere, Square Enix still expanded on FFVII with a mobile first release – Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis. The game shipped back in fall 2023.

Recently, Square Enix announced that the game is to face total closure come later this fall on October 6th. Square Enix confirms that Red Crystals currency for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis will be eligible to spend until the End of Service. It also stated that refunds will not be available with only Taiwan exempt.

“We regret to inform you that we will be ending service for Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis on Oct. 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM PDT. We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the abrupt nature of this announcement. Since the launch of the App Store and Google Play versions on Sep. 7, 2023, and the Steam version on Dec. 6, 2023, we have worked to provide the best possible experience for our players.

“After careful consideration, however, we have determined that it will be difficult to continue doing so and have made the decision to end service.” However, this might not be the last time that Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis might be playable.
