In recent months, we have seen an influx of XBOX titles hit PlayStation. The next on the list is the XBOX magnum opus – Halo: Campaign Evolved. However, while Microsoft is adamant to deliver on its promised titles, it is rescinding on further support. It was confirmed that the XBOX firm is looking to be refocusing on exclusives for its platform and less for PlayStation. It was clarified multiplatform is intended for its live-service titles.

Recently, PlayStation announced a similar initiative for its releases too. In May, it was reported that its first-party single player releases will not be shipping on PC moving forward. However, live-service titles are to be the exception. Additionally, another move Sony is also pursuing inevitably is the closure for its PlayStation 3 & PlayStation Vita servers.

Despite the storefronts going down, users on GitHub are developing their own homebrew exploits to offer endless support once dedicated updates cease for the PlayStation Vita. Recently, it was discovered that the newest version of GreenVita v0.1.4 enables XBOX Cloud Gaming support via XBOX Game Pass Ultimate.

“Xbox Cloud Gaming on PlayStation Vita. A native Rust client with an egui/SDL2 interface and hardware H.264 decoding,” the description for the homebrew reads. Of course, an active subscription is required for the program to work. It is also clarified that HENkaku to be enabled, VitaShell downloaded, and Unsafe Homebrew is also turned on prior to the VPK package being installed. “You need a homebrew-enabled PS Vita with VitaShell and an Xbox account that has access to Xbox Cloud Gaming.

It continues: “Enable Unsafe Homebrew in HENkaku Settings. GreenVita needs access to the Vita hardware video-decoder module.” While not official support, it is a neat implementation of keen codework & dedicated admiration for the handheld. Speaking of older hardware, there was at one point a native version for Gears of War 3 on PlayStation 3. Epic Games clarified it was to test the waters for the engine on the platform.
