It has been revealed by Capcom that they are closing their Vancouver studio, resulting in the termination of all projects from the Canadian team. The publisher told GameDaily that Capcom is shifting all development to Japan.

The developer was well known for working on the last three titles in the Dead Rising franchise – Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, which introduces Frank West to Dead Rising 2‘s Fortune City, 2013’s Dead Rising 3 which launched alongside the Xbox One, and Dead Rising 4, which saw the return of Frank West in a Christmas-themed zombie wasteland.

Capcom hasn’t revealed what projects the developer was working on or if the future of Dead Rising will continue over in Japan following the studio’s closure. Many assume, as of the time this writing, that the upcoming Dead Rising 5 has been cancelled as a result.

In the press release on the termination of the Vancouver studio, Capcom stated:

Capcom is currently reviewing the allocation of its development resources that support the production of world-class content.

The chances of seeing the undead game series return is still up in the air, along with any other titles that were in development by the studio.
