For those who might not have been aware this past weekend PlayStation 4 users have been receiving random messages that wen opened, making their consoles practically unusable. Since then, owners have been asking Sony for a solution to the malicious message problem.
In a tweet made about how these messages “bricks” your console, the official Ask PlayStation UK Twitter responded that the worrying problem has been resolved along with an explanation on how to fix the problem if faced.
We've since fixed the issue, and it wasn't bricking consoles, just sending them into a crash loop that can be quickly fixed in under 5 minutes. Delete the message on the PS mobile app, go into Safe Mode, use Option 5, console back to normal. ^DB

For those who might have received the message that plagued the console with a crash loop can easily fix the problem within five minutes.
It is reassuring to hear from Sony that those who might have been a victim to this aren’t out of a PlayStation 4. Though the problem has been resolved, users can still send the message randomly to anyone on PSN. To prevent this, follow the listed steps:
- Go to the main menu tab on console’s Home screen.
- Go to ‘Settings’.
- Select ‘Account Management’.
- Choose ‘Privacy Settings’, following with entering your password for PSN.
- Pick ‘Personal Info’.
- Enter ‘Messages’, where you can choose to receive message from friends with ‘Friends Only’ or not receive messages at all with the ‘No One’ option.
With this being the closest prevention tactic to avoid the crash loop, it’s unsure how long this exploit will be present on PSN. Sony has yet to announce when we can expect to have this removed from the PlayStation Network.
