Witnessing the commercial success from Nintendo with both the NES Mini and the SNES Mini, it’s expected that the same would come from other publishers as well. One of those companies being Sega; announced that the original Sega Mega Drive or the Sega Genesis for those of us in the West, will be coming in its own miniature-formed console later this year.
Sega back in September abruptly announced that the upcoming retro console will be pushed ahead to a later release date as the company wishes to focus on the overall experience with the games that will be supported for the smaller hardware and other features that will come with tiny console. This week, Sega uploaded a trailer to showcase the approaching Sega Genesis Mini, which you can watch below.
Evident from the latest video presents a 80s-influenced advertisement for the miniature console as if it was coming out in 1989 with a perky 16-bit soundtrack in the background and overly-dramatized angles showcasing the hardware in each frame. As well as featuring some of the titles that will be packaged with the console like Virtua Fighter 2, Road Rash 2, and Light Crusader.
Apart of the showcase, Sega also revealed that Tetris and Darius will be pre-loaded on the Sega Genesis Mini later this year: this marking the game count for the smaller console to over 40 different titles to play.
The Sega Genesis Mini will be available to purchase for $79.99 on September 19, 2019.
