Back at this year’s Bethesda Showcase during E3, the team at id Software made it to the stage to showoff not only more gameplay for Doom Eternal, but also revealed that officially slated release date for the upcoming sequel as well. The game looked promising alike prior demos shown for the game as the project looked nearly optimized for a steady release later this Fall.

However, that isn’t the case as it was initially according to Bethesda at the publisher announced that the game will now be pushed to launch later into 2020, March to be accurate. Making the announcement on Twitter that the game will need more time to perfect the promised delivery of the follow-up for Doom (2016).

Aside from the longer wait time to player the latest demon killing title, Bethesda also announced a few extra details regarding the upcoming game and other projects in the franchise. Firstly, the recently introduced Invasion Mode which allows players to intercept into other player’s games disguised as a demon will be provided as a free update to compensate for the prolonged wait for release.

Now for the Nintendo Switch, Bethesda shared that the game will be arriving to the Nintendo eShop, but that will be after the initial release for console and PC in mid-March. Although that may be disappointing, Switch owners can indulge on the returning Doom 64 the same day Eternal has been rescheduled to release. On the discussion of the 1997 title, Bethesda also confirmed that the game will be coming to other platforms the same day as Doom Eternal by making it a pre-order bonus.
