After waiting eagerly for details of the Windows 10 Conference that Microsoft will be holding next Wednesday, January 21st, they have confirmed the event will kick off at 9am Pacific and you will be able to watch it here. That’s 9am Pacific is 11am Central, 12am Eastern and 5pm GMT. The same link will also allow you watch the entire event On Demand shortly after it concludes. Microsoft’s senior leaders from the Operating Systems Group, Head of Xbox and CEO will be speaking at the event including:

  • Satya Nadella
  • Terry Myerson
  • Joe Belfiore
  • Phil Spencer

Microsoft held its Windows 10 for the Enterprise event on September 30th 2014, so on January 21st, it’s expected Microsoft will go into detail on the Consumer features of Windows 10 which includes:

  • Combined Mobile/ARM (Windows Phone/Windows RT) SKU. This means no more separate Windows RT for tablets, just one Windows Mobile.
  • Windows 10 running on Windows Phone devices and new features it brings to the platform.
  • Cortana on Windows 10 devices including Xbox One.
  • “Gemini”, the next wave of Gemini/Office updates. We have Office on iPhone, iPad and Android, so we’re expecting to see these touch-first Office Apps come to Windows 10 as it’s expected to ship without a desktop on tablet/mobile devices. They first showed touch-first office back at Build 2013 and it’s expected they will be released later this year.
  • Microsoft’s ‘Spartan’ code-named browser that features a Chrome-like interface and extensions feature. Microsoft will also discuss keeping Internet Explorer for compatibility reasons for Enterprises.
  • Phil Spencer will give details on Microsoft’s return to PC Gaming and most likely how Windows 10 will be deployed onto Xbox One and how it will adjust and take advantage of the console. We should also find out the purpose of the new mystery “Xbox” App for Windows 10 that leaked recently.
  • The Universal Windows Store that runs on Windows phones, tablets, desktops, laptops and Xbox One. (This might remain vague until BUILD in April).

This event also marks the first event we’ll be covering in 2015. I’ve been talking to staff and we’ve arranged the best way to ensure you’re covered if you’re unable to tune into the live stream. Here’s how you can get all your January 21st Microsoft Windows 10 Coverage from Rectify Gaming:

  • You can follow myself (@BeetleComet) and our @RectifyGaming Twitter for full live-tweeting event coverage. We’ll be tweeting as the announcements happen and include images of what’s shown for as many tweets as possible. I’ll be working with Tyboy17 to ensure we get you every detail you need to know right on the second. I’ll also be retweeting information from Microsoft Veteran Journalists like Mary Jo Foley and Paul Thurrott as they’ll have after-show announcement coverage and event roundups.
  • Once the event ends, we’ll be working on getting up as many articles summarising but detailing what happened at the event. We’ll break up articles into different categories so it’s not one huge story. We’ll tweet these out once there up. We’ll also be focusing on gaming announcements first as that’s our core, but we will also write about the other topics announced.
  • Rectify Gaming Podcast: Windows 10 Special. As soon as we can, we’ll record an episode of the Rectify Gaming Podcast detailing the entire days announcements and discussing our opinions on them. What we thought we would see, what we did see and what really surprised us. We’ll get the episode up as soon as we can that evening.
  • Questions? Confused about an announcement made? I’ll get answering any questions asked in articles and to me on Twitter if you’re unsure about something or need anything clarified. They’ll be a lot of news so I’ll try my best to get everything!
  • Hands on with the bits! I’ll be writing about my experiences with the new Windows 10 Preview we’re given that day (or whenever they give the build to us). I’ll also be trying it on each device they release it on if possible. (Desktop, tablet, phone).
  • Details of the Rectify Gaming App for Windows 10 devices. Yes, it’s happening!

That’s everything for now! Make sure to check back here @RectifyGaming for all the latest Windows 10 news, before, on and after January 21st!
