The fiscal year officially ended over a month ago and now publishers are finally releasing the financial reports to document the progress made within the last year. Looking at Capcom, the Japanese company has shown to be eager for more projects in the coming year. The firm shares a new goal to sell software per unit projected at 28 million for the coming fiscal year.

Reflecting on sales of release titles, the anticipated release for Resident Evil 3 Remake shipped well over 2.5 million units while the established Monster Hunter World now ranks at 15.5 million sold; later released Icebourne expansions said to further sales for the 2018-launched title. Capcom also went to list lifetime franchise sales elsewhere in the slideshow.

In the document, Capcom reveals that Devil May Cry has sold well over 22 million units, Mega Man at 36 million, Street Fighter at 44 million, Monster Hunter at 63 million, and Resident Evil at 98 million. However, Dead Rising is shared to have only sold 13 million units sitting as the least successful property for Capcom.

Now looking ahead, Capcom goes to project that the publisher is planning to ship “multiple major titles” later on in the coming year (before March 31, 2021). So Capcom has a lot under its sleeve regarding future releases for the current fiscal year, and there is still plenty of time for the firm to do so by then.

Regarding what some of these titles might be, one is suspected to be the anticipated Resident Evil 8. While the project has yet to receive its proper announcement, but a slew of rumors have been crop dusted online sharing elements ranging from the setting, characters, and enemies in the game. With the eighth entry expected to arrive in 2021, we could see a January release similar to Resident Evil 7 back in 2017.

What do you hope to see ship from Capcom in the coming year?
