Looking at the approaching PlayStation 5, many following the approaching next-generation console still sit waiting for more details on the unit. And while there has been plenty of room to at least share some projects that will ship uniquely on the new platform, fans are still left in the dark as of reporting. While there is Gearbox Software’s Godfall which was announced back in December, the title only happens to be a third-party project that is also aimed for PC as well.
So any predictions of first-party, Sony Interactive Entertainment-published titles are as good as mine for now. Howbeit, the wait for said projects might not be too far away according to a new statement. Shared by Sony CEO Kenichiro Yoshida, the firm intends to reveal the next-generation lineup fairly soon, Bloomberg’s Takashi Mochizuki posted on Twitter.
Now with Yoshida himself stating that the first-party bulk of titles aimed for PlayStation 5 is “soon,” fans can be contempt that new information is just on the horizon. With that in mind, we can go on to speculate some projects that might be coming according to previous reports. One from Video Game Chronicles that emerged last month is a sequel for Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn.
The outlet shares that multiple sources corroborated in the story that the next entry will be shipping for the upcoming PlayStation 5. Even more, the project is said to also include cooperative gameplay which will incorporate online connectivity to perform the feature. During the time of writing, Video Game Chronicles shares that Guerrilla Games initially intended to offer the mode with the 2017-launched entry, but later decided to scrap it instead which was later adopted for the supposed sequel.
Elsewhere, Sony Interactive Entertainment also plans to rebrand its line of published properties that will ship in further time. In a new announcement this month, the firm announces that all titles that will launch later on will be associated with the PlayStation Studios brand that essentially labels over the initial Worldwide Studios name.
More so, Sony also discloses to be very assured on the coming games that will be launching for the system later this year. Again speaking with Bloomberg, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki tells that the real performance will be in the sales figures for the new console when it drops later this coming holiday season.
