Earlier on in February, it was reported that Ubisoft would be presuming the Far Cry series with the next mainline entry for the open-world, action adventure later this year. Then-Kotaku News Editor Jason Schreier disclosed the information to be one of the unnamed projects that the publisher aims to ship in the coming fiscal year. The titles that it will arrive alongside with includes the already-announced Watch Dogs: Legion, rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods & monsters.

The remaining game is the rumored Viking Age-set Assassin’s Creed title: that we now know to be Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which will ship in anticipation for the next-generation consoles slated for holiday 2020. Now, a new report has emerged shedding details on the coming Far Cry title.

According to Gamereactor.dk and translated by Tweak Town, the next Far Cry title, assumed to be titled Far Cry 6, will be making it official reveal on July 12 during the scheduled Ubisoft Forward online presentation.

I don’t want to ruin Ubisoft’s plans by giving you all the information, but I can say with certainty that those of you who didn’t like Far Cry 5’s North American setting are likely to find this game more interesting when it’s officially unveiled during Ubisoft Forward on July 12.

Adding more context to the report, Gamereactor.dk pens that Ubisoft aims to ship the next Ubisoft title sometime during this fiscal year which corroborates with the claim made by Schreier earlier on. But due to the continued impact by the novel coronavirus, plans for the next Far Cry title is suspected to potentially be shifted by the global pandemic.

Additionally, the Danish outlet also disclosed that the setting for the game will be a “exotic location” which will be reestablishing its initial roots of the series. As of recently with this generation’s installments (Far Cry 4 & Far Cry 5), the two titles abandoned the coastal setting for the Himalayan Mountains and rural America.

Ubisoft Forward will be taking place on July 12, 2020 at 12 PM PSt / 3 PM EST.
