It was back in 2018 that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Japan Studio shipped the exciting and adorable Astrobot: Mission Rescue for PlayStation VR. Players when delving deeper into the experience uncovered that the title essentially pays an extended love letter to the PlayStation brand as several references to PlayStation paraphernalia can be found. Most notably, there is one segment of the game where you encounter a boss battle on a literal PlayStation One console.

Now during the recent PlayStation 5 showcase, Japan Studio returns with the announcement for Astro’s Playroom, a new intuitive experience to sample the capabilities of the DualSense controller. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

Although the experience is like the more personal one players initially encounter on PlayStation VR, it is instead substituted with the unique features in the new DualSense gamepad exclusive to the PlayStation 5. Ranging from the Impulse Triggers vibrating to the well-calibrated motion configuration in the controller to the sensitivity from button vibrations will project tangible feeling into reality.

“Astro and his crew lead you on a magical introduction through PS5 in this fun platformer that comes pre-loaded on PS5. Explore four worlds, each based on PS5’s console components. Each area showcases innovative gameplay that taps into the new features of the PS5’s DualSense wireless controller,” the synopsis for the game reads in the trailer’s description.

Even more, Sony adds by the end of the trailer that Astro’s Playroom will be pre-loaded in every PlayStation 5 by default when purchased. So the game will essentially be available before you begin installing anything onto the next-generation console.

Are you eager to see what adventures you will find in Astro’s Playroom?

Astro’s Playroom is set to ship with PlayStation 5 sometime in holiday 2020.
