While Nintendo has continuously hosted specified showcases for upcoming software for its first-party projects alongside the expected Indie World show earlier on this year, the firm has not brought the same attention to a proper Nintendo Direct presentation in contrast to previous years. Although followers did get a show in March – the Direct Mini – it was not a proper presentation alike prior Directs.
Howbeit, fans grew excited anticipating that the firm would then go on to host its annual E3 Direct as it usually arrives later in June, but that did not arrive either. It was reported ahead of this month that Nintendo could possibly be halting its showcase, which sounded preposterous at the time, but we learned to later be true.
Now, it looks that Nintendo is looking to possibly scrap the approach to marketing new products altogether. According to a new report from Video Game Chronicles that translated a recent shareholder meeting for Nintendo, the outlet unveils that the firm is possibly looking to new ways for players to learn of coming software and projects. In that, Nintendo tells that the evolution of its marketing could lead to the termination of traditional Nintendo Directs.
We feel Nintendo Directs are an incredibly effective way to present information directly to our customers in a very straight-forward way. Inversely, times change and so does the most effective way to promote products, so there is a chance that a new, better way to present this information comes about. So we always like to examine all of the possible ways to communicate this information to customers.
Surprising as it may be, this could have been in front of us already. In a separate report from Venture Beat following the claim of the potential scrapping for this June’s Nintendo Direct, the website elaborates further by sharing that Nintendo could possibly be applying this approach to the entirety of 2020. So the later Direct that usually arrives in September could also be on the chopping block as well later this fall.
Although it is difficult to determine what exactly will come, fans could witness more abrupt announcements similar to what came for Paper Mario: The Origami King. You can read the full announcement by heading here.
