While Bethesda’s Starfield arrived with plenty of attention as the new IP from the Fallout & The Elder Scrolls developer settled, the momentum going into post-launch was questioned. In one interview, composer Inon Zur was adamant on Todd Howard’s vision for the title to eventually deliver on the promised scale of this new universe. This was soon followed by the announcement for the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield.

Leading up to the game’s release, Starfield instantly climbed to being the most-preordered title on the PlayStation Store. What’s more surprising is that the title even outpaced the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Saros. And that is not the only planned release for Starfield it appears too. According to rating boards in Taiwan, Starfield is preparing a Nintendo Switch 2 version in the near future as well.

In a new development, it was revealed that Starfield performed immensely well in the month of April 2026. With the game’s release for PlayStation 5, it found success just short of its initial launch back in September 2023 according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella.

More interesting is that Piscatella in a separate post on Blue Sky reveals that the PlayStation 5 version accounted for approximately 95 percent of sales in the latest launch window. “The PS5 release accounted for 95% of Starfield’s full game dollar sales during the new version’s debut week,” Piscatella expressed in the post.

What comes to be a surprise is the conundrum of already shipping titles in this multiplatform model. While finding waves of commercial gains with each release, the concern for drive on its own platform does dwindle engagement for Xbox consoles. Recently, Asha Sharma addressed Xbox to reconsider exclusive releases for its titles as part of the new ‘We Are Xbox’ testament this weel. You can read the full report by heading here.

Are you surprised by the new success of Starfield shipping on PlayStation 5?
