With the arrival of Season 26 – Showdown, fans have been excited to see how the Wildcard game mode stands compared to standard battle royale. And, it is a welcomed addition. Followed by other updates like the Galactic Games Event & Raising Hell Event, there has been entertaining twists on the game mode welcoming new modifiers to the formula.
Last season also featured the ‘Wild Iron Event’ that injected buffs to lesser picked Legends like Mad Maggie & Seer to paint new excitement for the characters’ metas. Additionally, Season 27 – Amped shipped recently also revamping characters quite a bit too. In that, Legends Valkyrie, Rampart, and Horizon all were tweaked dramatically bringing a new meaning to each respected class.
Now this week, Apex Legends is here with the ‘Supersonic Event’ featuring Wildcard Olympus, and new mystic items like the R-99 Bird of Prey & Death Duet dual katanas. You can watch the teaser trailer in the video below:
“Reach peak performance on Olympus. The Wildcard version of Olympus is packed with extra map toys, like ziplines and gravity cannons. Take flight and win fights, Legends!” the overview reads. “In Wildcard, the Bird of Prey evolves into a missile-launching beast. Just hit your target repeatedly to activate its Missile Volley ability, which automatically fires missiles that track your target. It also boosts your walk, crouch, and sprint speed to keep you on the hunt.”
The Bird of Prey can be found through Rampart Care Package drops. Care Packages drop at the start of each round: they’ll contain one Bird of Prey and 2 random weapons, with higher rarity as the rounds progress. “It adds: “Carve up your opponents with the new Death Duet Universal Melee, a set of dual katanas usable by all Legends.”
