Assassins Creed franchise is an annual franchise for Ubisoft and fans were feeling burned out for the franchise after Syndicate came out in 2015 following the disastrous Unity launch in 2014.  Ubisoft took a year break in 2016 and it really paid off for the company.
During Ubisoft’s financial call to investors last night, physical sales for Origins were on par with Syndicate in the UK region, however, 35% of copies sold were digital downloads, double the amount of Syndicate which sold around 15% digitally back in 2015. Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot said Assassins Creed is “officially back”

This year, Ubisoft has had a healthy year with the launch of several titles like Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, and continuing post-launch revenues from For Honor, Rainbow Six Siege, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.
