Although publisher Ubisoft has remained occupied with Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six Siege, and the recent Splinter Cell Remake, the firm has other ambitious projects underway. Rewinding the tape back to early 2017, the firm alongside Massive Entertainment announced its next project – James Cameron’s Avatar. A new title based on the 2009 film was revealed with no expectancy for when it will arrive.

Well, it was not until this past May that Ubisoft in its earnings call then pressed the game is scheduled to release this year alongside Skull & Bones and Mario & Rabbids. Both games respectively received 2022 launch dates, however, the most that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora revealed was a new trailer.

According to the latest financial report from Ubisoft, the game has ultimately been pushed to fiscal year 2023 in preparation to take advantage of the new console hardware.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will now release in 2023-24. We are committed to delivering a cutting-edge immersive experience that takes full advantage of next-gen technology, as this amazing global entertainment brand represents a major multi-year opportunity for Ubisoft.

“While this additional development time is a reflection of the current ongoing constraints on productions across the industry, we are hard at work to design the most efficient working conditions to ensure both flexibility for our teams as well as strong productivity while delivering the best experiences to players.”

As for other potential projects underway, Ubisoft in the report also reference a new ‘premium game’. “We also decided to release in 2023-24 a smaller unannounced premium game, originally slated for 2022-23.” It is entirely possible we could see the reveal for said game at the coming Ubisoft Forward presentation scheduled for this September.
