The decisions at Microsoft have been noteworthy in efforts to bring XBOX to a position to actually be financially stable. The most notable is the exit of four XBOX Game Studios teams: Compulsion Games, Ninja Theory, Double Fine Productions, and Undead Labs. Despite the effort ejecting teams from XBOX, these titles are to remain in development. Bethesda is also under its own changes as well.
Bloomberg reported that the firm is to emphasize resources on five major IPs: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein. Alongside Bethesda, Obsidian Entertainment was also reported to be tackling a Fallout project of its own. It is uncertain if it will be a continuation of the Fallout: New Vegas storyline. But, the 2010 title alongside Fallout 3 have been heavily speculated to be receiving modern remasters at some point.
According to Bethesda in an extensive statement for its plans moving forward, Fallout is to be receiving major release plans despite the drought its remained in for nearly a decade. Not only did the firm verify the reports about Obsidian Entertainment, it also revealed Fallout 3 & Fallout: New Vegas are both being remastered officially.
“The wasteland continues to expand as we team up once again with our longtime friends at Obsidian Entertainment. We’re happy to confirm they’re working with us on a new Fallout project. We’ll have more to share in the future,” the post on X shares. “We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.”
It was previously understood that developer Iron Galaxy was responsible for the remastered work for both 6th generation Fallout titles. The team recently worked with Treyarch in the release for Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops II which shipped for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
