It has been sometime since we heard of much news surrounding the Wolfenstein franchise from developer MachineGames. Actually, it has been since nearly a year since the release of the standalone, co-op title Wolfenstein: Youngblood that MachineGames was out and about for the series. With the additional, same day release of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot – a virtual reality experience set in the game’s universe – it has been under wraps what comes next for the series.
However, in an abrupt announcement made today, MachineGames emerges once again with a new release. But rather than a new entry for the notorious Nazi-killing franchise, the team is shipping a compilation of titles available for the series excluding the one VR-only release. Dubbed the Wolfenstein: Alt History Collection, players can now own all four games of the series spanning from 2014 – 2019.
While there is no breaking announcement or even a trailer to reveal the news, Bethesda instead made the announcement on Twitter to reveal the bundle is out now for purchase.
“The Wolfenstein Alt History Collection takes players on an epic adventure through a grim alternate history where Nazis have achieved global domination. Shoot, stab, and kill your way through the Nazi ranks in four critically acclaimed games in the Wolfenstein franchise,” the synapse for the game reads on the Microsoft Store.
The bundle itself includes the four first-person experiences set in the Wolfenstein-occupied world: Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood.
But what makes this collection unique for hardcore fans is that the inaugural 2014 entry alongside its following prequel will both support 4K resolution outputs for players that own the supported hardware. Additionally, it is expected with the upgraded versions of both titles should also face better performance than its initial releases earlier this generation.
In previous Wolfenstein-related news, Bethesda Vice President Pete Hines disclosed that Wolfenstein will be a trilogy at some point – announcing a third entry is on the way. You can read the full report by heading here.
