Video games in recent years have witnessed a turnaround on some of the most notorious releases in its history. Although beloved titles are facing new life with remasters from its publisher, other recognized games are also being repurposed for newer hardware. More notably, games that have been deemed terrible are receiving ports with physical releases.
Previously, we saw this with the 3DO title Plumbers Don’t Wear Purple Ties. In 2021, Limited Run Games announced that it will be publishing the game’s re-release and feature physical versions for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game expands on the core experience and also created a documentary background on the creation & development to revisit the 1994 title.
Similarly, another notorious game is also on the way to PC later this year. Publisher Margarite Entertainment announced that Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is receiving a PC release on Steam. Initially, the announcement surfaced abruptly which led to questioning the legitimacy of the reveal. Margarite Entertainment clarified it is coming this year.
“We truly appreciate everyone’s enthusiasm! In response to the concerns, we would like to clarify that Margarite Entertainment has obtained the rights to a few classic titles (including Big Rigs Over the Road Racing) worldwide, and they will be released on Steam! While we were not planning the formal announcement today, we wanted to thank GXZ95 for video and SteamGridDB for their asset,” the team wrote.
“Get ready for some brake-jamming, CB-talking, convoy-rolling action across America! From Portland, Oregon, to Miami, Florida, you’ll haul loads and stay one step ahead of the law as you climb into your Big Rig for non-stop driving excitement,” the press release reads. “Whether you’re a fan or a newcomer, gear up for heart-pounding, engine-revving action as you race down America’s highways, navigating everything from paved streets to wild off-road tracks. Big Rigs delivers non-stop action, high-speed hauls, CB chatter, and law-evading thrills.”
