Sony Pictures announced it is developing an R-rated Bloodborne animated movie based on the popular game that was released exclusively for PlayStation 4. The movie will be co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and Sean ‘Jacksepticeye‘ McLoughlin.
The announcement came during CinemaCon 2026, where Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch mentioned the film will remain very true to the spirit of Bloodborne.
Sony also announced during the week that The Legend of Zelda movie wrapped filming, which is still planned to release in theaters on May 7, 2027.
It was reported previously in 2023 that a “Bloodborne Movie Adaptation” was in the works, but the extent of it at the time was vague. A release window for the Bloodborne movie has not been mentioned yet by Sony.
The popular video game hasn’t received a remaster or sequel since its release in 2015, and the recent shutdown of Bluepoint Games could have prevented a potential remake, reports share.
