Remember Bethesda’s first-person, parkour shooter Brink? As of recently the game became free on Steam and no one has a clue why.
The 2011 game developed by Splash Damage with a good concept on paper to bring many concepts to the game with multiplayer offense/defense mechanics and single player story telling soon after the game launched lead the game to getting decent ratings, but not living up to what was expected. Even in the dystopian Cops VS Robbers setting that drove the game’s story, an interesting art style and well balanced classes keeping players for a while, but overall fell through.
This spontaneous bringing free-to-play for Brink have boosted the player count greatly compared to the 20+ from the beginning of 2017. According to Steam Charts as of now, Brink has peaked over 2000 players as seen on Steam Charts. But with the numbers increasing, it seems this flame will be shortly lit.
