From 2020 to the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, it is a completely different experience in all the right ways. And that is just the start of things. According to narrative director Igor Sarzyński, it was just the start of what is to come later for that universe. In a more recent finding, it was indicated that multiplayer or some aspects of it is being prepared for the Cyberpunk 2077 successor over at The Molasses Flood.
What’s more, that is not all planned. From its project roadmap, The Witcher is receiving a new game as well. And as of September 2023, CD Projekt Red shifted a majority of its staffing to the new The Witcher flagship title – Project Polaris. And while details are still sparse for the new games, the Polish team did verify that microtransactions will not be part of its single-player efforts now and in the future.
According to its recent financial statement published this week, CD Project Red gives an update on where its current projects stand. In that, Project Polaris – the next Witcher title – is making good progress. What’s more, the planning stage for Project Orion, AKA Cyberpunk 2, has been established at CD Projekt Red already.
“Work on Polaris is progressing – its development team is nearing a major milestone which will mark the end of the preproduction phase. The first half of the year was also a busy period for our Boston studio, which is laying the groundwork for Project Orion – a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe,” Michał Nowakowski, joint CEO said.
What was not offered an update is Project Canis Majoris. CD Projekt Red previously pressed that this title is part of an third-party effort in remaking the original Witcher release using Unreal Engine 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
