It’s been two years since we first saw Crackdown 3 at E3 2014, then more at Gamescom 2015 last year. Other than that, we’ve seen absolutely nothing and fans were getting worried. Well, yesterday the announcement was made that Crackdown 3 will be officially delayed until 2017. The post was made on their official site, and stated that
Crackdown 3 is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging. Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal. We know that many are looking forward to becoming Agents in Crackdown 3 and we are committed to delivering the best experience in 2017. This decision was made with our fans and their gaming experience in mind.
Crackdown 3 is set to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s cloud system Azure, and the acquisition of Havok will only increase what the game can do. It will be available on the new Xbox Play Anywhere program, which allows you to transfer your play from Xbox One to Windows 10 on the go similar to PlayStation’s cross play and buy program. We’ll have more information as it comes out.
