While the wait was more than a decade, the Uncharted film adaptation officially arrived earlier this winter which established the start of the multi-million dollar effort to franchise many PlayStation IP from Sony Interactive Entertainment. Following the box office release, Sony responded to the film as a major success with a trilogy likely on the way moving forward.
Additionally, the firm recently announced three other productions are in the works too. This include God of War & Horizon Zero Dawn being adapted into movies alongside Gran Turismo receiving a television series as well. Not to mention the previously announced The Last of Us show, Twisted Metal show, and Ghost of Tsushima movie also.
Recently, Deadline in an exclusive report shares Days Gone is another IP that is receiving the same treatment with a film adaptation in the works at PlayStation Productions. More for what the motion picture is to feature, it is said that Sam Heughan (Outlander) and Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, X-Men: First Class) is to be co-writing the script.
As for the general plot, Deadline expresses the story to be “a love ballad to motorcycle movies — the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation, his horse in this would-be modern-day western.” Atop of that, Heughan is claimed to also be starring as protagonist Deacon as well in the coming film adaptation.
Turner alongside Jennifer Klein (Armageddon, Pearl Harbor) is to produce on behalf of Vendetta Productions. PlayStation Productions will feature Asad Qizilbash (Uncharted, The Cuphead Show) and Carter Swan (The Last of Us, Twisted Metal) to produce. Overall, the announcement of the production comes as a surprise despite the reported demise of future entries for the game internally.
In a previous report, bend Studio creative director John Garvin explained that the initial metacritic scores for Days Gone cemented the game would not receive further support. Which is odd to learn finding the game later shipped on PC with better reception. You can read the initial report by heading here.
