The Xbox Games Showcase that took place this past week shared some of the newest and anticipating titles that are coming out from Xbox Game Studios. Unveiling next-generation entries for Xbox Series X like Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed or Turn 10’s rebooted Forza Motorsport – players has plenty to look forward to in the coming years. But during the presentation, am already-announced title did make an appearance.
That being Double Fine Productions’ Psychonauts 2. The title despite the team’s acquisition for Xbox Game Studios back in June 2019 is coming to current-generation platforms such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4. During the showcase, the developer revealed to be collaborating with Jack Black with a featured single for the coming title.
In addition to the reveal, Double Fine Productions shared in the events after the showcase that Psychonauts 2 will now be arriving “next year”.
For the coming sequel that countless fans are anticipating to play for more than half of this console generation already, Psychonauts 2’s wait time has been extended into 2021. The project previously back in July last year was disclosed that the follow-up title will be arriving later this year, but now we can say that the same note has been played for 2020.
But that certainly is not a bad thing to say the least. Looking at the progress of Psychonauts 2 in the most recent trailer as the game breaks into different scenarios with no hindering restrictions, the project does illustrate the impressive progress that exceeds the capabilities of its 2005 predecessor. And with the team sharing that Microsoft encourages development to go at their own pace, the payout for Psychonauts 2 is suspected to be higher when it is properly finished with no deadline withholding the game’s creative flow.
Do you still plan on picking up Psychonauts 2 later on when it arrives?
Psychonauts 2 is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC sometime in 2021.
