After the impressive release of Psychonauts 2, Double Fine Productions went to work on other new & unique titles. In 2025 the developer shipped Keeper. And now in 2026, it is going in a new direction with Kiln. The pottery, online party game launches this week. Recently, the game held its own ‘Open Beta Throwdown’ for players to feel how the game stands on its own with its special flavor or multiplayer fun.

At PAX East, Rectify Gaming did manage to get early hands-on with Kiln and it is clear there is potential for the new IP to stand on its own in an already competitive, live-service market. “Kiln has a lot of potential beyond just the ceramic glaze on this pottery-based multiplayer brawler. […] Kiln is a memorable experience that shows Double Fine Productions still has what it did when making titles like Psychonauts and Brutal Legend.”

Now with Kiln officially out as of Thursday, Double Fine Productions has properly mapped out the content for Kiln releasing throughout spring 2026. You can view the release schedule below:

“Kiln couldn’t have been possible without the Double Fine Insiders. You’ve really helped us refine and hone this idea and make the experience what it is today. THANK YOU for your time, for being honest and constructive. We’re about to reveal some upcoming cool things, but first I wanted to extend a huge thank you to all of you. […] If you’ve already joined us in a previous beta, you’ll see that there are two new maps for you to experience right at launch! This extends to decorations too.”

Kiln project lead Derek Brand continues: “Every week for the first month after launch we’re bottling up some updates for you! Right after launch in week one, we’ll have a fun Dinosaur Decoration Pack so you can make some really ancient pottery. Then you can look forward to a hot new map in week two, and even more customization options beyond that. There’s even something for the cat and dog lovers out there.

“Once we’re in summer, you can look forward to two new Quench maps, additions to our progression system, Missions, a Pot Journal, and some other secret things. Later this year, we’ll unveil a fully featured Photo Mode and more ways to play. On top of that, every month you can look forward to fun new cosmetics, so let us know what you really want to see and what you want to decorate your pots with.”

Are you excited for the post-launch for Kiln?

Kiln is out now for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
