While we currently live in what seems to be a glowing time for publisher Electronic Arts as the company has a slew of ongoing IPs spread across multiple platforms, it should also be noted that there is still more to come in the months leading on into 2020. While it is unclear what exactly will be arriving in whole, the expected annual installments for EA Sports titles are keyed in for this coming holiday.
Among what we could already guess, there is more than a handful of other unannounced projects that are shared to be released later on and following into the next fiscal year for 2021. According to the latest investor call held this week, Electronic Arts COO & CFO Blake Jorgensen discloses what EA is scheduled to launch leading into this year.
While not going into specifics, Jorgensen tells about roughly 14 different titles to be releasing under Electronic Arts ranging from multiple genres and even platforms in the coming months.
We’ll launch four sports titles, including new games in our blockbuster FIFA and Madden franchises, four other titles that draw from the breadth of our IP, and we’ll also publish four more titles globally from smaller developers. Finally, we expect two new mobile titles to make it into soft launch.
One notable mention is the scheduled release of four unique titles that Electronic Arts plans to publish from smaller development teams. This past June, EA revealed two new EA Original projects Lost in Ransom and RustHeart. However, Jorgensen clarifies that assumably these two games alongside two other unannounced projects will also be launching in 2020: expect to learn more of these unnamed games this coming EA Play in June.
Regarding what other titles published by Electronic Arts will be arriving later this year points to an already known title, NBA Live. Yes, there was no installment for this past year in 2019, but developer EA Tiburon did confirm that the next entry will arrive later on in the era of new console hardware. However, that is ranked more towards conjecture if the game will actually launch this year seeing that it is still unknown regarding the status of the next game.
Jorgensen also tells that a selection of fan-favorite titles from the publisher’s library of intellectual properties will also be making an appearance in 2020. Determining what we will find later on in this year regarding his statement is as good of a guess as mine. I would predict that this discovery entails returning series that have not been in public eye for some time.
Lastly, Jorgensen tells that leading into 2021 can expect the same bevy of sports games, of course. But he also reiterates that a new Battlefield title will be arriving that same year also. Electronic Arts previously solidified the existence of the newest installment for 2021 in EA’s Q2 FY20 report.
