Fellowship best beginners tips

Discover everything you need to know about beginner tips for Fellowship, including some major mechanics to help you learn about the game.

Fellowship is a multiplayer online dungeon adventure set in an exciting fantasy setting. You choose one of many heroes to play, each with their own role, split into tanks, damage dealers, and healers. All three are necessary to form a party, which is formed in the base called Stronghold. Through a simple queuing method, you’re jumping into a dungeon with either one or three bosses to beat.

On the way to those bosses, you have to clear out enough enemies of the dungeon to reach 100%. This allows you, after beating the boss, to receive loot from a treasure chest.

Best Beginner Tips for Fellowship

Progressing in Fellowship can be challenging for the starters, but this guide ensures your smoother progression.

1. Research Available Heroes

Research heroes

Figure out which role you want to play and research the heroes in that respective role. Fellowship follows the holy trinity. So, there are tanks, healers, and DPS characters. Tanks will have the responsibility of pulling mobs and setting the pace in general for the rest of the group throughout the dungeon. You will be responsible for stringing enemy groups together to form massive groups of enemies for the rest of your party to cleave down.

The tricky part will be finding the right balance for you and the rest of the party to survive. Healers sustain the group through all the damage that will be inflicted. Healers do not have any interrupts, so they can’t quite help control enemies like the other two roles. Instead, healers have a dispel ability that can be used to remove powerful effects from players. At the same time, damage matters, so healers are going to have to learn how to balance healing the group and dealing damage.

Finally, DPS characters are responsible for dispatching enemies. You will also be responsible for interrupting and controlling enemies to reduce the amount of damage that’s being dealt to your group. I would recommend trying to pick at least one character to play from each role, so that you’re more versatile.

2. Get Inside the Dungeon

Dungeons Fellowship

Once you get in the game and you have your character and role picked out, you’re ready to step into some dungeons. The first thing I recommend doing is six quickplay dungeons by selecting play in the top left and then the quickplay mode. The reason I suggest six quick plays specifically is for a few reasons. Number one, quick play is very good for learning. All player gear is going to be normalized. So, this is going to give you a big power boost starting out.

Also, these dungeons don’t have time limits. So, you can take your time and actually learn the flow of each dungeon. You can also try doing some ridiculous polls to do some limit testing if you really want. But most importantly, you can kind of learn how your character plays at a base level. The second reason is that the way progression works in Fellowship.

Each character or hero has their own progression tree, where the more dungeons you do, the more abilities and talents you unlock for that character. So, just by playing a few dungeons, your character will start unlocking a lot of power simply by playing the game. These quick-play dungeons are very quick and efficient for this process.

The third reason is that these quickplay dungeons reward a token currency, which can be used to exchange for gear. You can purchase some cheap gear to get yourself started for the actual progression dungeons later on. The fourth reason is that you get a resource that can be used to purchase valuable upgrade resource chests on a cool-down. You should purchase the highest-tier chest as quickly as possible just to get on cool down faster.

3. Challenge Modes

Challenge modes Fellowship

After you’ve completed enough quickplay dungeons to kind of round out the rest of your gear and unlock some abilities, you’re ready to start exploring some of the challenger leagues. The first league you’ll have access to is called Contender. To enter these dungeons, simply select play in the top left and then select challenge. If you’re playing solo, queuing will pair you up with other random players around your item level, and it’ll suggest three dungeons to choose from.

The three dungeons will have different difficulty levels, and your group will vote on which dungeon to take on. If you’re queuing with a full party, including a random party that you might have already completed a dungeon with, you can select specific dungeons and difficulties regardless of what your item level is.

The goal when you start running these contender dungeons is to get to level six dungeons, where you can comfortably complete them, so you can efficiently farm for gear. To help you get to this point, you can use gold to upgrade green gear. However, I wouldn’t really recommend upgrading past item level 60.

4. Challenge the Capstone Dungeon

Captsone dungeon Fellowship

Once you are comfortably completing level six dungeons and you reach around level 60 item level, you should have unlocked most of your character unlocks by this point. So, the full potential of your character kit should be available. At this point, you should be ready for the Contender League Capstone dungeon, which happens at level 7. This dungeon is called Cithrel’s Fall, and it is a three-boss dungeon.

This’ll be a little bit of a new experience from what you’ve encountered until this point. Upon completing Seth’s Fall within time, you will have completed the Contender League, and the Adept League is now available to you.

5. Beginning a Fresh League

Fresh league Fellowship

Once you start running adept-level dungeons, you’ll acquire blue gear. This gear has a higher base level and a higher item level cap. At this point, you’ll start the process fresh, where you try to run adept dungeons 1 through three just to farm gear and replace most of your greens.

You’ll slowly work your way up, comfortably clearing level six adept dungeons until you have reached a minimum item level of 110. At that point, you’re ready to take on the adept capstone dungeon, which is called Heart of Tuzari.

6. Character Progression

Character progression

At this point, the game kind of starts to repeat itself. You’ll always want to work up slowly, acquiring gear to power up your character. So basically, you’ll start replacing the previous league’s gear by spamming dungeon levels 1 through three. After that, upgrade them with gold as you acquire it. As you progress, you’ll also unlock new cosmetics such as mounts or character outfits.

As you progress through different leagues, you acquire new character progression methods, such as gems and weapon traits. So, there are just really a few different ways to scale up your heroes.

7. Focus and Pick Focus Feature

By default, these keybinds are going to be V to mark your target and then F to kick your marked target. If you want to change these keybinds, you simply have to go into settings and then inputs, and scroll down to the bottom. It should be the last two options.

The reason this feature is so incredible is that it not only does it lets you kick the target without actually having to target them specifically. But it also lets your team know who is going to kick what. Everyone really needs to get used to this feature and use it for all of your groups because communication is the key to success here.

8. Filling Action Bars

Action bars

The first time you start up Fellowship and pick a hero, you might realize that your action bars are missing a few skills. You’ll receive new skills and abilities, as well as talent points, after every dungeon you do. To quickly receive all the spells you need, I recommend doing a few quick play dungeons. Those dungeons that have a low difficulty setting are quickly finished, hence the name.

Apart from the new skills and the progression on the star map, you’re also going to receive tokens and keys. You can use it to purchase starter gear as well as crafting materials. These resources are account-wide, so you can actually use the tokens that you don’t need on Adios for rhyme and buy her a nice starter set of equipment.

9. Mark To Succeed

In each dungeon, there are a few ways to check it out. Ever so often, there are boss mechanics that require your team to move as a collective. For these situations and many others, Fellowship has a marker system that allows you to place a colorful mark on a location. This could be done by the default number one, two, three, or four keys. You can change those, but don’t miss out on this helpful gadget.

10. More Item Levels

Item Leveling Fellowship

The higher the item level of your gear piece, the higher its stats are, the more beneficial it is for your hero. In general, a dungeon with a higher difficulty rewards us with a higher item level. However, there are a few clusters of difficulty settings that reward us with the same item level, even though the difficulty is higher or lower. Take the difficulty four and five in the contender league.

Those two vary in enemy power, but grant you both level 45 equipment. This means that if you want to hunt for better gear, but want to have an easier way, check out which difficulties have the same item level and do a few runs in the lowest settings. You can check out the item levels that drop in the Dungeon Codex in the top right corner.

11. No More Casting

One key factor for success is the interrupt spell from each damaging or tanking hero. Stopping the frigid mists cast at the end boss of the Wyrmheart dungeon is essential since it places more and more damaging areas on the battlefield the longer it casts. However, since this fight also has a dangerous spell called icy death, which wrecks the tank on higher difficulties. You need to coordinate your interrupts, which can be done through the lock on the system. If you press the V key on your keyboard, your hero’s interrupt spell is shown next to the health bar of your current target.

This not only shows your allies which target you plan to interrupt, but further provides a great visual if it is on cooldown or available. Working as a team to lock on all your interrupt spells is vital to succeed in this game.

I’m also a long-time horror fan, across both games and films, with a preference for atmosphere-driven storytelling. This space reflects that passion, exploring games through both their mechanics and the atmosphere they create.
