Gearbox has 90% of its staff working "on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on."

Gearbox CEO said the bulk of the studio is working on a game the fans craved so it’s safe to believe it’s Borderlands 3. Talking at PAX West panel, the CEO Randy Pitchford revealed that 90% of Gearbox’s development team is “working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on.”

Back in March at GDC, Gearbox showed an early Borderlands 3 Tech Demo running on Unreal Engine 4, but it won’t necessarily represent anything in the final game. Pitchford said the things shown were “not a video game,” but rather a “technology demonstration.” He also promised the studio is working on the next Borderlands game “we’re working on it, we’ll get you soon.”
Since then, nothing new has been shown to the public about the next Borderlands game. We believe the game is slated to come out in 2018 or sometime in 2019.
