
While the Gears of War series has been on the back burner for just over a year, we should not discount the impact the latest installment made. Back in 2019, the game at the time swiftly became the most successful title from a first-party Xbox developer which overtook the long-held record by Halo 4 in 2012. That was before Playground Games’ Forza Horizon 5 toppled that milestone this past fall.
Additionally, there is word that a Halo: The Master Chief Collection compilation is in the works for Gears of War as well. Currently, the project is told to be slated for a 2023 release as per Xbox Era’s Nick Baker. However, the most overshadowed project related to the IP is that a motion picture is in the works. The most details given on the film was it would be set in a separate universe to allow creatives to go free with the storyline for the movie’s sake.
This week, it was told that the Gears of War movie is expecting an announcement in the near future. The Batman Producer Dylan Clark is also posed as a Producer for the Gear of War film shared the information with The Digital Fix when asked. “I’m glad that you’re interested in it. It’s something it’s been a passion of mine for a very long time. I think very soon there will be an announcement.”
In the past, word on the Gears of War motion picture remained radio silent aside from some stories from actor Dave Bautista. Although casting has yet to be confirmed, the former WWE Superstar has been adamant on his desire to portray Marcus Fenix. In a recent interview Bautista told Collider he turned down a Fast & Furious role to give his pitch to snag the role as the starring Sergeant,
Elsewhere, alike the split storyline for the Gears of War film, the same can also be told for the approaching Halo Television Series. In a previous statement from 343 Industries, the developer confirms its close work for the Showtime TV show has established the ‘Silver Timeline’ to transition the lore to television.
