We’re just a week away from the HCS finals, and the 16 teams competing for their share of $2.5 million are going strong with their scrims! Nonetheless, earlier this week the team at 343 released a series of updates aimed to help high level Arena players to find matches faster, and also to ensure that Onyx players are seeing the appropriate amount of CSR movement after wins and losses.
En route to Meridian
The next Halo 5 update will bring a new Warzone, new weapons, new vehicles, new skins, and a lot more! Below you have a sneak peak of what’s to come
Josh Kao, concept artist at 343 gives a more background about the new Warzone map!
“For Skirmish at Darkstar, the team decided on having a derelict ship in the middle of the map on the mining planet of Meridian – which you can see to the left of the concept. I originally thought about having a space elevator in the concept, but we decided against it because there was already one in the campaign. I also wanted to capture the mood of what a mining planet would feel like, with the sunlight peeking through its heavily polluted atmosphere.”
Community Maps Update
Over the past few weeks, the community team at 343 and forgers have been working together to bring more community maps to BTB and Grifball. 343 has confirmed the new Forge maps are coming in the future matchmaking updates!
MCC Playlists & Adjustments
343 is improving the speed of matchmaking as well as some Playlist parameters to ensure players find their games faster! Here are the playlists you will notice a difference:
- Team Halo 2: Anniversary
- Team Doubles
- Halo: CE
- Halo 2 Classic
- Halo 3
- Halo 4
- Team Hardcore
Lastly, those least populated playlists such as Rumble Pit will be removed, and some game specific playlists will be moved to a rotating, regularly updated calendar. 343 is also working on new experiences for MCC, Halo 3 Grifball Throwback and Head to Head, and they should be available in the near future.
